PA School and PANCE Tutoring Services

• During PA school, you must complete mandatory clinical rotations in various fields which include emergency medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry
• During these clinical rotations, you must complete a number of different assignments such as logging patient interactions, writing SOAP notes to be graded, and presenting a variety of patient cases
• At the end of each rotation, you must also complete an end-of-rotation examinations (EOR) which evaluates your knowledge of that clinical subject

There are 3 key exams that every PA student has to think about during PA school:

Physician Assistant Clinical Knowledge Rating and Assessment Tool (PACKRAT)

• The Physician Assistant Clinical Knowledge Rating and Assessment Tool (PACKRAT) is a standardized test taken by both didactic and clinical year students
• The PACKRAT is a 225-question exam which is built based on a content blueprint and topic list created by the PAEA. It measures your current global medical knowledge and compares it to peers at your current level of education
• The PACKRAT is a strong predictor of a PA student’s ability to pass the boards (the PANCE)

End of Curriculum (EOC) Exam

•  The End of Curriculum Exam (EOC) was created in 2020 as a means of evaluating the cumulative knowledge a student has gained throughout the entirety of their PA school experience
• All schools require that their students pass the EOC to graduate from PA school

Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE)

• The Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE) is the certification exam you must pass at the end of PA school to become a practicing PA
• This PANCE consists of 300 questions total, split into five sections of 60 questions. For each section of 60 questions, you are provided 60 minutes. In between each section, you are allotted a 10-minute break. In total, the PANCE can take up to six hours!
