The primary application to United States dental schools is processed through a centralized application service.  For all dental schools (Both DDS and DMD programs) in the US except those in Texas, this centralized service is the Associated American Dental Schools Application (AADSAS).  For Texas dental schools, the centralized application service is the Texas Medical & Dental School Applications Service (TMDSAS).  These centralized application services process your application and send it to the individual dental schools you choose to apply to. The AADSAS and TMDSAS applications have several components including the personal information section, the activities section, and most importantly the dental school personal statement (statement of purpose). The dental school personal statement is where you have the opportunity to make a convincing argument for why you should be accepted to dental school among many competitive applicants. - In the AADSAS application, the maximum allotted space for each experience description is 600 characters with spaces and in TMDSAS, it is 300 characters with spaces
